Ennis

I was sad to leave Ennis because I met some very lovely people. After staying at the Banner Lodge in great comfort, a TV, double bed, shower, complimentary tea and coffee, I realised at 25 euro a night I was kidding myself. I asked the caretaker if there is a market, I found out that was a stupid question, Ennis is a big market town. So I headed out pepared to find a new bed and a place to set up and draw portraits. The ‘Sandwich Master’ pointed me in the direction of The Rowan Tree. Having put my bags away I asked where the best spot was for the market and was directed to The Bazaar, run by Ann Cronin. She kindly gave me a table and two chairs and I drew her son Leon for the price of a spot. It is wonderfully cheap to have a spot a the Ennis Bazaar. I had one or two customers that day and thanks to Ann who advertised my work on facebook, I had many orders and drew from photographs. I headed over to the local art shop to buy some new watercolour paper for the following weekend and managed to make enough to buy a ticket to Edinburgh. Thank you to all the people who took an interest in my drawings and to Ann of course.

The Sunday spent at the County Clare Fair was equally successful. In amongst all this I was invited to accompany Ann, a fine artist to a competition she was in for a black smith artwork she made. We took a trip the following day to Dublin and visited vintage stores galore and ate the yummiest sushi. We were joined by the gallant Emma who speaks Gaelic. Ann’s son showed me a little about hurling and I was driven to see the Cliffs of Moher. Lots of work and play in Ennis.
